Bruno

Male · Young · 1 year

Bruno is a sweet and sensitive one-year-old Dachshund x Beagle who is settling beautifully into foster care. This lovely lad enjoys spending time with his favourite people, exploring new places and having fun in the garden. He loves heading out on adventures and will happily sit to have his harness put on. Bruno is already showing off his clever side too, knowing commands such as “sit” and “paw”. At home, you'll often find him proudly carrying his favourite teddy, tossing it into the air and inviting his humans for a game of tug. Bruno can be worried around new people, but is making progress when introductions are taken slowly and positively. With understanding and ongoing support, Bruno has all the potential to blossom into a loyal, fun-loving and affectionate companion. Bruno can be a nervous little boy so he is looking for a patient home with adopters who are happy to provide ongoing support in several areas including separation anxiety and reactivity to dogs. Bruno is best suited to live with children of secondary age and above, providing adults only take responsibility for walks. He can be worried around new people, so ideally visitors will be introduced to him outside of the home. Bruno would love secure private garden where he can burn off some energy and play with his toys. As he is underconfident when meeting dogs or seeing dogs on walks and will react by barking and pulling towards them, so he is looking for adopters that are comfortable to keep him on lead out and about and would like to be the only dog in the home. He would suit a cat free home but would live with small pets if kept separately. Bruno also struggles with being away from his caregivers so would like a home with minimal leaving hours who are committed to gradually building his confidence with time alone. With the right support and a bit of patience, Bruno is sure to be a perfect pal in his forever home!

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a small young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Manchester in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Manchester handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Manchester will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Manchester early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
