Bruno

Mastiff · Male · Young · 1 year

Hello, I’m Bruno! I’m a very handsome Mastiff x Chocolate Labrador with a big heart and an even bigger personality, and I’m looking for my forever family.I may be HUGE, but I’m really just a big puppy at heart! I can get the zoomies and love having a good play, whether that’s with my toys, my human friends or other dogs. I’m a very affectionate boy though, and given the choice, I’d much rather be having cuddles and getting lots of fuss from my favourite people.I get on really well with other dogs and absolutely love having a playmate. I’m a friendly and sociable boy who enjoys spending time with both my canine and human friends.I could potentially live with older teenagers who are comfortable around a very large, energetic dog. Because of my size, strength and bouncy nature, I’m not suitable to live with young children — I’m simply a little too much of a big, enthusiastic boy!I’m still learning some of my manners and will need a family who can help me with my training. I don’t always realise quite how big I am and, despite weighing a fair bit, I’d very much like to be a lap dog! I’m a big, bouncy boy who will need some guidance to help me understand that I can’t always fit where I think I can.Despite my size, I’m a complete softie with so much love to give. I’m playful, affectionate and full of puppy-like enthusiasm. All I need now is a family who has plenty of room in their home, their hearts and, if I had my way, their laps for this gorgeous gentle giant. About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a extra-large young adult mastiff dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
