Brutus

Mixed Breed · Male

Hi, I'm Brutus. I was born in June 2016 and although I'm a small dog, my life has been quite turbulent. I came to the animal shelter very quickly, because on July 12, 2016 - I was found near a dumpster in Zabrze. Soon after, on August 3, 2016, I got my first chance and was adopted. Unfortunately, it wasn't a forever home. On December 5, 2017 I returned to the animal shelter. I got another chance on July 5, 2018 - I again lived in a home and it seemed that this time everything would work out. I spent many years there... until February 25, 2026, when I again ended up in the animal shelter. This time I was given up due to my caregiver's poor health. All of this has made me not a dog without problems. It's hard for me to get along with other dogs, and emotions - especially jealousy - sometimes take over me. Therefore, I'm looking for a home without children and preferably one where I will be the only pet. I need a calm, patient person who will give me time and help me feel safe. Despite my history, I am still able to love and attach myself to a person completely. I really want to feel once again that I have my own home - such as forever. Maybe I will find my place with you?

Niedługo później, 3 sierpnia 2016 roku, dostałem swoją pierwszą szansę i zostałem adoptowany. Niestety, nie był to dom na zawsze. 5 grudnia 2017 roku wróciłem do schroniska.Kolejną szansę dostałem 5 lipca 2018 roku – znów zamieszkałem w domu i wydawało się, że tym razem wszystko się ułoży. Spędziłem tam wiele lat… aż do 25 lutego 2026 roku, kiedy ponownie trafiłem do schroniska.

About Brutus

What life with Brutus looks like

Brutus is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brutus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brutus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brutus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brutus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brutus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brutus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brutus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
