Bubba

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Bubba - shaped by life, but finally on the way forward In May 2025, Bubba came to our Spanish animal shelter - silent, cautious, injured. A visible head wound already indicated a severe blow, but it was the X-rays that revealed the full extent of her suffering: her body was covered in shot pellets. Someone had shot her repeatedly. The cruelty she endured is hard to put into words. Despite everything, she is alive. And that is a small miracle. Today, Bubba is about four years old - four years that probably knew more pain than comfort. At first, she met people very cautiously. But Bubba has a remarkable will: the will to trust again. Bubba's development - half a year full of small miracles After six months in the shelter, we can happily say: Bubba is making progress. She greets her familiar caretakers with a joyful wagging tail, seeks their company, and shows that she feels safe in their presence. Even towards strangers, she is no longer as skeptical as at first - she still observes carefully, but she is slowly opening up. Bubba has also discovered walking. She really enjoys the outings, but she still needs a secure, strong hand because she sometimes pulls on the leash. The contact with other dogs has not been tested yet, so we cannot give a reliable assessment at this time. For Bubba, we are looking for special people Bubba needs a quiet home with people who have experience in handling traumatized dogs - people who bring patience, empathy, and time. Time to heal, time to learn, time for a gentle new beginning. Perhaps Bubba will never be the typical, carefree family dog - but she can become an incredible loyal companion if given the chance. Would you like to give Bubba a second chance? Then feel free to contact her adoption officer. Here goes Bubba's video Here goes Video 2

About Bubba

What life with Bubba looks like

Bubba is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bubba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bubba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bubba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bubba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bubba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bubba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bubba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
