Adopt Buddha

Pit Bull Terrier · Male · Senior · 9 years

Last time I got to participate in a special training session and I found it really fun! Together with my trainer, we worked on many different exercises, but the most important thing for me was being in a strange environment among many different people and also some other dogs. I showed that I am secretly really the best in the group. Apart from my wonderful gentle character, I also really want to work for and especially with my owner. Of course, when it's warmer, everything is a bit more slowly with occasional breaks in between. I gladly used those breaks. Nice cuddles with my trainer, but also the spectators of the training couldn't leave the field without an extended cuddle session. I like showing that I'm a real cuddly bear after work. I remain naturally a dog of caliber and am also really a sad fellow, so my owner must be strong in his shoes 😉 And by being strong in his shoes, I mean a fair and kind person who knows how to support me at the right moments and has insight into dog behavior and is especially positive. Working together with my new owner to bring out the best in each other is something I would really like and I am very ready for that. It's nice to be back in my own home with that understanding owner who definitely has the necessary experience with mainly positive training and can guide me when I need it. I am a bit clumsy and also a bit of a "lanky" guy, they say here. I don't know exactly what that means, but they always laugh when I run up cheerfully with my happy head. Children are not for me and I prefer to live without other pets because I am not used to it and I just like to get all the attention I deserve. Are you interested in me? Then my caretakers would appreciate an email with information about, among other things, your experience with dogs, your living and lifestyle situation, and what your expectations are for your new companion. You can email us and also please include your phone number.

About Buddha

What life with Buddha looks like

Buddha is a senior pit bull terrier dog waiting at Dierenasiel Crailo in Hilversum.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Crailo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Crailo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Crailo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
