Buddha (SW)

Mixed Breed · Male

PS FE, born: 06/16, male dog. Found on the Finca since 10/25 Buddha – A little fighter with a big heart. When Buddha was found, there was hardly anything left of his former glory. The little doggy was in a pitiful state – his fur almost gone, his body infested with lice, and the smell revealed that he hadn’t had a loving home for a long time. Fortunately, he was still allowed to move to the Finca Esquinzo on the same day and didn’t have to stay in Pererra. At the vet, it was shown: his blood test was fortunately unremarkable, but Buddha suffers from a typical sun allergy that occurs in dogs that have spent their entire lives outdoors. With regular baths, good food, and lots of affection, his skin began to regenerate – and so did his soul. Today, Buddha is hardly recognizable: cheerful, grumpy, and full of life. Buddha loves humans more than anything. When he is stroked or allowed to snuggle, he smiles – and one can feel that he would rather disappear completely into his human. Other dogs don’t interest him much, and playing is not his thing. Buddha is not yet completely housebroken, but he learns quickly – especially if there’s a treat involved. He has discovered treats and finds them simply “excellent”! A soft bed, a full bowl, and loving hands – more than that, he doesn’t need to be happy. We wish for Buddha a home where he can finally belong. People who love to cuddle will find a loyal companion in him. He gets along well with sovereign children, and a calm second dog wouldn’t be a problem for him. Buddha is ready to travel to his new home, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, treated with antiparasitics, fully vaccinated, and tested for “Mediterranean diseases,” from mid-November. The little Buddha searches for his home with love – a place where he will always be welcome.

About Buddha (SW)

What life with Buddha (SW) looks like

Buddha (SW) is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Fuerteventura in Dransfeld.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddha (SW), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddha (SW)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Fuerteventura handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddha (SW) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddha (SW) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Fuerteventura will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddha (SW) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddha (SW) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Fuerteventura early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddha (SW) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
