Buddy

Border Collie · Male · Puppy · 7 months

I am Buddy! I came to the shelter as part of an official takeover and am now looking for people who want to discover the world with me and show me what a dog's life has to offer. I am a friendly, lovable and quite funny young dog, up for any nonsense and definitely a dog to steal horses! I especially love working with my humans. I am very motivated in training and want to do everything right to please my handler. After initial excitement, I walk nicely on a leash and also drive well. I find strangers a bit scary at first. But if you give me a moment to sniff and get to know the situation, I quickly thaw and then my little clown comes out. I get along well with other dogs, I react very neutrally to cats.Healthwise, I am currently unremarkable. For my new home, I wish for loving people who have a lot of time for me and enjoy learning the basics of dog training with me. I am very eager to learn and would like to work with my humans. A quieter residential area would be ideal for me, because in the middle of the city it would probably be too much for me. I wouldn't mind a confident dog companion. Children should be a bit older and understand that sometimes I need some time to get to know new people. If you are in the mood for a young, motivated and sometimes wonderfully silly companion and want to accompany me through life with patience and loving consistency, then please contact the shelter. I look forward to getting to know you!Your Buddy

Dein Buddy

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a small puppy border collie dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
