Buddy

Mixed Breed · Male

Meet Buddy – From Rags to Riches 💛 Buddy is a lovely crossbreed boy whose journey hasn’t been an easy one. He arrived with us in truly heartbreaking condition—skin and bone, with patches of hair loss—but thanks to care, patience, and a lot of love, he’s made an incredible transformation and is now looking so much brighter and healthier. Through it all, Buddy has remained an absolute sweetheart. He adores people and thrives on human company, always ready for a fuss or a cuddle. His favourite thing? Belly rubs! Show him a kind hand and he’ll happily roll over to soak up all the affection he can get. Buddy also seems to get on well with other dogs, making him a great potential companion for an existing pet. He’s a very clean and tidy boy in his kennel too—just another sign of what a good lad he is. Now all Buddy needs is a loving home to complete his journey. After everything he’s been through, he truly deserves a family who will cherish him and give him the happy ending he’s been waiting for. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion with so much love to give, Buddy is ready to be your best friend 🐾

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
