Buddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Jack-Russel/Dachshund mix Age: 9 years (born 2017) Male, neutered Microchipped Vaccinated, dewormed Buddy is a very friendly little dog, curious and people-oriented. He is uncomplicated, enjoys accompanying his humans, but can also be left alone. A single place is sought for Buddy with single individuals or a family with older children. Better without another dog or cat - he is a terrier! Buddy will only be given up very reluctantly, as the owner's professional reorientation in Tokyo is scheduled for early 2027. After careful consideration, it is more in the dog's best interest not to have to move to a big city, but to continue living in a more rural area (currently in the Schwetzingen area). If you are interested in Buddy or have questions, Mr. Rouven Acquaviva will be happy to help you at the phone number.

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Schwetzingen und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Schwetzingen und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Schwetzingen und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Schwetzingen und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
