Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Buddy is a beautiful young male, born on 01.08.2025, who stands at an impressive 70 cm tall and weighs 33 kg. He has a striking resemblance to a German Shepherd mix and possesses the characteristics of a wonderful companion. Buddy is exceptionally intelligent, attentive, and very people-oriented. He loves being close to his humans, is friendly, affectionate, and enjoys working with them. He seeks interaction and has great fun learning and experiencing new things together. Despite his time in the shelter, Buddy has shown remarkable composure. He is familiar with various situations and has even explored the city, mastering traffic, people, unusual sounds, and new environments with calm confidence. He also walks nicely on a leash and enjoys walks and exploration trips. Buddy is an active and eager learner who doesn't just want to walk by. He wants to be engaged, to be with his humans, and to use his clever mind. Therefore, we are looking for active, stable, and dog-experienced people who enjoy working with a young, strong dog and can provide both physical and mental stimulation. It is important to us that his future owners can offer clear, fair structures and consistent, loving guidance. Buddy brings a great foundation with him - now he needs people who can recognize his potential and accompany him on his journey. Buddy gets along very well with other dogs and has been described as good with children. Cats have not been tested. Buddy is one of those dogs where you can sense: There is incredible potential in him. An active, loyal, and highly motivated companion who wants to go through life with his humans. ❤️ 👉 We are looking for people who want a big, young, and athletic dog and can give him the chance to become the great partner he already is.

DE·Show original

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
