Buddy

Shih Tzu · Male · Adult · 8 years

Buddy came into our care as a stray and has blossomed into a friendly, gentle, and affectionate cat. He loves greeting his carers, leaning in for fuss and attention, purring loudly, and even dribbling with happiness during head and cheek rubs. His favourite place is curled up on a warm lap, although he also enjoys chasing his wand toy when he's feeling playful. While in our care, Buddy underwent surgery to remove both of his ears. Buddy has adapted brilliantly to his unique earless look, although his hearing may be affected, so he is looking for a safe, understanding home. Buddy is a sweet and gentle cat that has so much affection to give and is searching for someone who will cherish him for the truly special cat he is. Buddy will need outdoor access in his new home and should be provided with a cat flap so that he is able to come and go as he pleases if his new owners are away for the working day. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Buddy, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. a match for the cat you have contacted us about.

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a medium-sized adult shih tzu cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
