adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Calin can stay with his foster family! His story: Together with his sister Heni, Calin came into our care. The story of the sibling pair is sad, but unfortunately not uncommon for our Romanian rescues. They lived at the edge of the forest near a village and were cared for by loving locals. But suddenly, other villagers took issue with the pair – for no reason. They even called the police and encouraged community officials to take action against the two fur babies. Calin and Heni had to leave and would have almost ended up in the harsh public shelter in Zalau – a place where animals are still killed after 14 days. Fortunately, our helpers were called in just in time – and now Calin and Heni are waiting at our shelter for a safe, cozy life. Despite the sudden and dramatic turn in Calin's life, he appears balanced and extremely friendly. He is not an exuberant, stormy male dog, but rather waits and is quite reserved. Wearing a harness and leash is still new for Calin, but he is making concentrated efforts to make progress. Overall, he is still at the beginning of the Dog 1×1 path. Patience, understanding, and consideration will be important when Calin starts his second life. Our little mouse would probably not have any objections to one or two training sessions in a positively working dog training class. Calin is a medium-sized dog at 51 cm in height and weighing 23 kg. As he gets along well with other dogs, he could go on walks through the woods and fields with a first-time dog. We do not yet know how Calin reacts to cats. Our beauty catches attention with her cuddly gray-brown-white fur. She loves being stroked, and her faithful eyes sparkle with joy and confidence. Calin's suitcase is packed. He brings his EU pet passport, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He can also be adopted after a positive home check. Calin would initially be very happy with a foster home. Do you want to give Calin a place in your heart and show him that he will never be unwanted again? Thank you, Sandra B., for giving Calin this beautiful name and thus an identity and the chance at a beautiful dog life. Many thanks, Leon J.! You support Calin with a monthly sponsorship! Vielen Dank Leon J.! Du unterstützt Calin mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 25.05.2025

About Calin

What life with Calin looks like

Calin is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Calin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Calin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Calin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Calin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Calin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Calin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Calin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
