Adopt Cally

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Cally, the black beauty. Milan found Cally and her two siblings, Benji and Dolly during his walk. Someone had simply discarded the three puppies in the bushes, on a wild trash dump. Cally is a beautiful, black female dog. She is very loving and approaches people openly and cuddly. At the same time, she is not intrusive. She loves going for walks, but Cally already has hip problems at such a young age. This could possibly be managed with targeted physiotherapy, as Cally is cooperative and eager to move. However, we don't know if surgery might eventually be necessary. That's speculation, but we want to point this out so you know what might come up with an adoption. Cally is generally compatible with other dogs, but currently has a "short fuse" towards some other female dogs and smaller dogs. This should be worked on, if it's not just a teenage phase. Since all three siblings are quite similar and have beautiful, dense coats, we suspect that one of the herding breeds is in their family. Cally and Dolly are however significantly smaller than their brother Benji. For Cally it would be wonderful if she could leave the shelter, because sometimes it gets a bit rough there, which is not favorable for Cally. In the last videos you can see where Milan and Bojana found the three.

About Cally

What life with Cally looks like

Cally is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad in Aachen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help For Strays e.V. - Animal Hope Riska Belgrad early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
