Camino

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

The sweetest Camino has such a fitting name. After all, Camino—in German, “the path”—has had a rocky journey so far. Yet today, she lives fully in the “here and now” together with her little pup Tuca, enjoying a life that already brings her considerable contentment (which is clearly visible, too): a foster home with loving dog people, fresh water, plenty of high-quality food in her bowl, and lots of play and fun. Camino is a caring, loving dog mom—and that’s exactly the kind of home we’re looking for her: a home where she can experience and feel love, care, and carefree happiness. She shouldn’t have another rocky road ahead of her anymore; instead, she deserves a path that’s good for her cheerful, lovable canine soul. With affection, patience, love, and a bit of training, Camino will become a wonderful companion to her future two-legged friends. She’s a very friendly, interested, attentive, and eager-to-learn dog—though she likely endured much suffering at the hands of humans. A young girl found Camino along with her puppy on a narrow path near a cemetery in a village close to Alcañiz. Camino was utterly emaciated, reduced to skin and bones. Even so, she still tried to nurse her little pup. It was a deeply sad sight. The girl called the animal shelter to ensure Camino and her baby would be safe. At the shelter, Camino received medical care and was nursed back to health as best as possible. Since a concrete kennel wasn’t a good place for Camino and Tuca, the shelter fortunately found an experienced foster home for both furry friends. There, they can now recover, eat their fill, gain weight, and have lots of fun. But this journey isn’t over yet for either of them... For Camino, it would be dreamy to find a calm home with a garden, surrounded by loving, understanding people—where she can finally arrive and truly relax. That doesn’t mean she’d spend the whole day sleeping, though. Camino loves to run, play joyfully, go for walks, spend time with her human(s), and then enjoy her quiet moments... and receive lots of cuddles. Camino is very people-oriented and affectionate, though she still reacts with anxiety to loud voices and noises, quick movements, and she’s afraid of sticks. She was probably beaten. If a family wishes to adopt Camino, the children should be very understanding, not overly hectic, and already older. This wonderful little dog gets along wonderfully with other dogs and travels easily in the car, too. With the right trust built up with her new humans, Camino will soon feel like a full member of the family.

About Camino

What life with Camino looks like

Camino is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Camino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Camino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Camino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Camino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Camino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Camino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Camino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
