Candy

Rottweiler · Female · Adult · 5 years

13-08-26 Candy is a very sweet and affectionate lady who has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for her forever home. She absolutely adores attention and cuddles and, once she gets to know you, it doesn't take her long to show just how loving she really is. Candy simply wants to be close to her people and has completely stolen the hearts of everyone she has met. She will make a wonderful companion and is sure to become the ultimate cuddle bug in the home. Candy can walk on a lead, although she can be quite strong, so her adopters will need to be prepared to continue her training and help her develop her lead manners so she can enjoy plenty of adventures. As she is a very large lady, it is important that her adopters have experience with her breed and understand her needs. Candy has the confidence to be the only dog in the home, although she could potentially live with another large breed dog following a successful meet and greet. She loves to play and can be quite excitable, so she would not be suitable to live with smaller or more fragile dogs. Candy is an incredible girl, but she can be sensitive when she is worried or when she feels uncomfortable, for this reason, we feel she would be best suited to an adult-only home where her adopters can give her the time and space she needs to build trust and settle in. She has arrived with a scab on the right side of her face that will be addressed during the time of her spay. Candy has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Candy

What life with Candy looks like

Candy is a large adult rottweiler dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Candy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Candy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Candy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Candy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Candy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Candy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Candy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
