Animal shelter Tenerife (Sabine) Update February 19, 2026: 5 new photos added of Canuto Input January 30, 2026: Canuto, what a lovely clown he is! Always cheerful, grateful and loves attention. It surprises us every time because Canuto has only been with us for a month and his past was clearly anything but pleasant or nice. More cold, without love and dark...literally! Yet this guy has been full of confidence and pure mischief from day one. He does the craziest stunts to be in the picture and has a way of saying "good morning" that makes you laugh hard. He becomes so happy and enthusiastic when he sees us coming that he really smiles! His lip then goes up and waggingly shows you his nice teeth with the most touching and funny podenco smile you can imagine. Despite never having received attention before, or maybe precisely because of that, he is crazy about us and any form of attention. Even though he is very enthusiastic, he will never be rude or jump at you, he knows how to control himself and won't impose. That's not necessary because when you see him...he's already in the picture, right away! Canuto calmly takes in new impressions and is always ready to join in for a cuddle, a walk or a sprint around his patio. It really touches you every time. Seeing how grateful they are with such small bits of attention and "luxury" and how quickly they adapt to an entirely different life and routine. Also getting dressed is a celebration for Canuto, meaning he gets to go outside! Outside he is curious and likes to sniff around. He doesn't pull on the leash and keeps an eye on you both with the short and long lead. With other dogs he is good. When we meet them during walks they are enthusiastically greeted. If they don't feel like it, Canuto simply continues happily. Another dog in the house is not a must but would certainly add to the fun. Canuto is healthy, tested free of heartworm, vaccinated and will soon be neutered. Then he'll be fully ready for his next adventure: the real dog life he has always deserved. He can't wait to enrich a family!

Asiel Tenerife (Sabine) Update 19 februari 2026: 5 nieuwe foto's toegevoegd van Canuto Input 30 januari 2026: Canuto, wat een heerlijke clown is het toch! Altijd vrolijk, dankbaar en dol op aandacht. Het verbaast ons telkens weer want Canuto is nog maar een maand bij ons en zijn verleden was duidelijk alles behalve gezellig of fijn. Meer koud, zonder liefde en donker...letterlijk! Toch is dit ventje vanaf dag één, vol vertrouwen, en één en al gekkigheid. Hij doet de gekste capriolen om in beeld te komen en heeft een manier van "goedemorgen" zeggen waar je alleen maar keihard om kan lachen. Hij wordt namelijk zo blij en enthousiast als hij ons aan ziet komen dat hij dus echt glimlacht! Zijn lipje gaat dan omhoog en kwispelend laat hij je dan zijn mooie tandjes zien met de meest aandoenlijke en grappige podenco smile die je je maar kan indenken. Ondanks dat hij nooit eerder aandacht kreeg, of misschien juist daarom, is hij dol op ons en op elke vorm van aandacht. Ook al is hij dolenthousiast hij zal nooit lomp zijn of tegen je op springen, hij weet zichzelf te controleren en zal zich niet opdringen. Dat is ook niet nodig want als je hem ziet...dan is hij al in beeld, direct! Canuto laat nieuwe indrukken rustig over zich heen komen en staat altijd klaar om mee te doen voor een knuffel, een wandeling of een sprintje door zijn patio. Het doet je echt wat, elke keer weer. Zien hoe dankbaar ze zijn met zulke kleine beetjes aandacht en "luxe" en hoe snel ze zich weer aanpassen aan een totaal ander leven en routine. Ook aanlijnen is voor Canuto een feest, dat betekend dat hij mee naar buiten mag! Buiten is hij nieuwsgierig en snuffelt hij graag. Hij trekt niet aan de lijn en houd je in de gaten zowel aan de korte al de lange riem.Met andere hondjes is hij goed in de omgang. Als we die tegenkomen tijdens het wandelen worden ze enthousiast begroet. Als ze daar geen zin in hebben dan huppelt Canuto gewoon weer vrolijk door. Een ander hondenmaatje in huis is geen must maar zou voor extra gezelligheid zorgen natuurlijk.Canuto is gezond, filaria vrij getest, ingeent en wordt binnenkort gecastreerd. Dan is hij helemaal reisklaar om aan zijn volgende avontuur te beginnen: het echte hondenleventje dat hij altijd al verdiende. Hij kan niet wachten om een eigen familie te gaan verrijken!
