Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang)

Unknown · Adult · 4 years

I came to the animal shelter as a found cat and am fundamentally a sweet, friendly and cuddly cat. However, I still need some time to fully trust. At the moment, I sometimes get scared when someone wants to touch me. Then it can happen that I briefly show my claws. This is not a bad intention, I just have fear and feel insecure in such situations. If you leave me alone and don't ask anything from me, living with me is completely uncomplicated. I like to play with cat fishing rods and I'm happy when someone is with me. I already come to people on my own and snuggle up to their legs. That's why the people here believe that I can still develop into a real cuddler with time, patience and a lot of understanding. I have an older injury and a scar on my eye. Probably I see less on this eye, which is why I get scared more quickly. Strangers and new environments are also difficult for me at first. I need time to arrive and learn that no one wants to do me any harm. Actually I am classified as a free-roaming cat. However, due to my limitation, I would not like to be placed in unsecured free-roaming. Much better for me would be a quiet, spacious home with a large, secure free-roaming area where I can move safely. People with patience, empathy and understanding for my special situation would be just right for me. Whoever gives me the necessary time and doesn't pressure me will surely experience how much love and closeness are in me. We are happy that you are interested in Cap. It would be best to send us a request directly. Then you will become a sponsor for Cap. Of course, Cap is also happy about individual money and material donations.

About Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang)

What life with Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) looks like

Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) is a large adult cat waiting at Tierheim Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Karlsruhe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Karlsruhe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Karlsruhe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cap (Wohnungskatze mit gesichertem Freigang) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
