Adopt Capo

American Bully · Male · Young · 3 years

Our American Bully Capo has made many progressions in his time at the animal shelter. Capo can walk calmly on a leash, loves to cuddle, and learns quickly. He is house-trained and does well traveling in the car. However, all of this only works well if Capo takes things seriously. Before coming to the animal shelter, he barely knew any boundaries and had already gone through several owner changes. During this time, we affectionately called him "the blue wrecking ball." He would go over tables and benches. The first thing he learned here was to maintain calm. If you let him, he will display an enormous energy level and spin himself into a state where he becomes nearly unapproachable. With patience and composure, we have now brought him to a point where he no longer gets rattled by the shelter commotion and can walk past other dogs with his trusted people. Before his time at the animal shelter, Capo unfortunately received little training, and it is clear that he still doesn't understand many things and needs someone to patiently explain exactly what he should do. When meeting new people, he tries to figure them out and makes clear distinctions. Capo shows a clear territorial behavior, which must be managed well in the new home. He would not let strangers into the house without hesitation. Capo is a dog who needs experienced people who can give him the necessary security through learning boundaries, which he needs to become a psychologically stable dog in everyday life. Our Bully does not get along with cats or small animals. Among fellow animals, he prefers female dogs but also needs the guidance of his confident people. The American Bully is not recognized by the FCI in any of its variants. This new breed is typically bred from various molossoid dog types, which are on the ban list in many federal states (e.g., Bremen) and are therefore prohibited.

About Capo

What life with Capo looks like

Capo is a young adult american bully dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Capo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Capo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Capo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Capo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Capo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Capo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Capo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
