Captain Crumpet

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 3 years

Captain Crumpet is a larger than life Bulldog with an even bigger heart! This handsome lad absolutely adores people and never misses the chance to make a new friend, greeting everyone he meets with a wagging tail and his signature wiggly enthusiasm. Affectionate, playful, and full of character, Captain Crumpet loves nothing more than spending time with his favourite humans, whether that's enjoying a cuddle, playing tug with his beloved raggy toys, or exploring the world with his nose to the ground. He's a clever boy too, already knowing several cues including sit, down, wait and both paws. With his fun loving personality, gentle nature, and endless affection to give, Captain Crumpet is sure to bring plenty of laughter and companionship to his future home. Captain Crumpet’s ideal home would be with adopters who are happy to continue his training and give him time to settle into the home. He would need minimal leave hours to start, but these hours could be gradually increased. Crumpet can have walking friends but should be the only dog in the home and will go home on an on-lead advisory due to showing humping behaviours towards other dogs when off-lead and with people. He could live with a dog-savvy cat or caged furies if these are able to be kept separate when necessary. Crumpet loves fuss and people, so he could have regular visitors once he has settled.

About Captain Crumpet

What life with Captain Crumpet looks like

Captain Crumpet is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Captain Crumpet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Captain Crumpet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Captain Crumpet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Captain Crumpet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Captain Crumpet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Captain Crumpet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Captain Crumpet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
