Caramelo C

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Traits: very sweet, calm, balanced and gentle Good with: dogs and cats Weight: approx. 15 kg Location: Casa Esperanza, Portugal Caramelo C. – a sweet dog that no one is looking for Some stories begin with a storm – and sometimes it is a storm that completely changes a dog's life. That is how Caramelo's story began. When the severe storm swept across Portugal a few weeks ago, Caramelo arrived at Casa Esperanza. Since then, we have been waiting for someone to come looking for him. Perhaps he has a family who misses him. Perhaps there are people somewhere asking about him. But to this day, no one has come forward. In the meantime, Caramelo lives at Casa Esperanza. There he is safe and lovingly cared for. But there is one thing he is missing most of all: a home of his own and people who truly let him belong to them. An exceptionally sweet and laid-back male Caramelo is about 3 years old, weighs around 15 kg and is medium-sized. Above all, he is an incredibly sweet dog. He is calm, balanced and gentle, and he greets people in a friendly and open way. Caramelo also gets along well with other dogs and cats. His quiet and relaxed nature makes him a pleasant companion. He doesn't push himself to the front; instead, he enjoys being close to people and is happy for every bit of attention. We don't know his past We don't know what Caramelo experienced before he came to us. We don't know whether he once had a home or why no one is looking for him. These questions remain unanswered. What we do know is that Caramelo deserves more than waiting for someone who may or may not come one day. He deserves people who see him, get to know him and finally give him the security and warmth he longs for. Caramelo has been waiting for weeks Since his arrival, Caramelo has become a part of everyday life at Casa Esperanza. In the evenings especially, he has become part of our daily routine and one of the dogs we greet once more before the end of the day. And yet, each time, there remains the hope that someone will finally ask about him – that somewhere a person will notice Caramelo and recognize what a wonderful dog he is. That person has not yet come. That is why we want to make Caramelo visible, and we sincerely hope that his story will not end with a long wait, but with the happy ending he deserves. Caramelo deserves his family Caramelo does not need an extraordinary life. He needs people who give him their time, accompany him with love and give him a permanent place in their lives. He deserves a family. He deserves a home. And he deserves to no longer have to wait. Perhaps you are the person Caramelo has been waiting for all this time. Perhaps you are the one? If Caramelo touches your heart and you would like to give him a loving and secure home, please feel free to contact us. For adoption or further information, please get in touch with us. • • •

About Caramelo C

What life with Caramelo C looks like

Caramelo C is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Portugal e.V. in Altfraunhofen.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caramelo C, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caramelo C?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Portugal e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caramelo C on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caramelo C if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Portugal e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Caramelo C already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caramelo C isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Portugal e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caramelo C and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
