Carlitos

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Our animal welfare organization reports: This is the adorable Carlitos - a little cat who has proven what an incredible fighter he is! As a tiny baby, Carlitos was rescued in critical condition. He had a severe infection and veterinarians gave him little chance of survival. But thanks to intensive care and his indomitable will to live, he has made it: Carlitos has fought back into life and today is a completely healthy, happy cat!👁️ His special feature: One-eyed, but unstoppable! As a result of the severe infection, Carlitos lost vision in one eye. The third eyelid is currently still retreating, so the eye looks better every day. Although blindness in this eye is irreversible, it's absolutely no obstacle for Carlitos: He runs, jumps, climbs, plays and explores the world just like any other young cat. He's simply happy!Carlitos is an absolute dream cat: He loves human contact and actively seeks out petting. He gets along well with other cats and loves living with fellow felines. He is super playful, curious and brings good cheer to the house every day. For the sweet Carlitos, we wish him a loving home (ideally in apartment keeping due to his visual impairment, preferably with a secured balcony). Since he's so social and playful, it's essential that there's already a suitable feline companion in the new home. Please note:The animal presented here lives on a foster placement. For these animals, we are looking for a home for a loving and safe life. The descriptions are brief because there is simply no time left to care for the animals during daily work. If you're interested, an exact description can be requested; please send your questions directly by email to the address provided. We will try to answer them as soon as possible. Home soughtCarlitos needs a loving and caring home. Our cats - as far as health and age permit - go into their new homes spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and with an EU passport. They have also been tested for FELV and FIV. Young cats are only placed with an existing kitten or may bring a feline playmate.

About Carlitos

What life with Carlitos looks like

Carlitos is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlitos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlitos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlitos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlitos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlitos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlitos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlitos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
