Adopt Carlo

Unknown · Young · 2 years

March 2026: A lot has happened in Carlos's life. For almost a year, he has been living on his foster home. His brother Carmelo was adopted, and brother Ciro tragically passed away. So that Carlo, who so desperately needs fellow animals to be happy, wouldn't have to return home alone, Bianchino came to him from Sardinia in November for the foster home. The two tomcats got along very well from the start and became best friends. They play and cuddle together, feel very comfortable with each other, and love spending cozy evenings with their foster mom. In December, the duo became a trio. Tomcat Suri, who had lost his home, got a spot on the foster home. The close-knit team had to "educate" the distressed Suri for a while. Now, the three make a super harmonious group. Carlo is very happy to have such nice company for mutual grooming, group cuddling, and playing. Carlo is a gentle soul; he wants to be friends with every cat and never wants to get involved in fights. The two-year-old, super social Carlo should never be rehomed alone, as he can better adapt to a new environment with a friend. The once shy tomcat has made such beautiful progress; we just want to give him the security to start in his final home. Carlo and his friends look forward to visitors at their foster home in Königswinter. For Carlos's future, we wish him a place in a quiet family. After adequate settling-in time, Carlo should also have the opportunity to go on walks. A cat-safe garden would be the optimal condition for him, and for unrestricted walks, the surroundings should be more rural and traffic-free. Much braver than expected!. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Carlo

What life with Carlo looks like

Carlo is a young adult cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
