Mirko und Maurizio

Unknown · Young · 2 years

Mirko und Maurizio did not have the most auspicious start in life. Apparently, both were unplanned, and their owners actually managed to put the two adorable kittens into a tightly sealed plastic box, albeit with a single small air hole. This plastic box with the two kittens inside was then left out in the blazing sun at around 40°C. Fortunately, the two cute fellows were found in time and were taken in by L.I.D.A., the large animal shelter in front of Olbia. They were saved from heatstroke. The two inseparable and magical brothers were able to travel to a very loving and experienced foster home in NRW last spring. Very quickly, they settled in and left behind the cramped and stressful life in the animal shelter. By now, they have matured into two adult, wonderful tomcats. The foster mom has developed a very special bond with the two playful companions. If she had the chance, she would not give Mirko und Maurizio up again. They sleep in her bed, always keeping her in good spirits with their games and pranks. Mirko, like most red tomcats, has a lot of pepper in his rear and is very playful and imaginative. With him, it's never boring. He likes to be the center of attention and always runs over quickly when Maurizio gets an extra cuddle unit from his foster mom. He is very careful not to come up short. Maurizio, his "big" white brother, is the calm counterpart in their relationship. Nothing can easily shake him. He also likes to play, but generally prefers a more relaxed approach. The two are like Yin and Yang, complementing each other perfectly and loving to snuggle up to each other. The past year was quite challenging for us, the foster mom, and especially for Mirko.

About Mirko und Maurizio

What life with Mirko und Maurizio looks like

Mirko und Maurizio is a large young adult cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mirko und Maurizio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mirko und Maurizio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mirko und Maurizio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mirko und Maurizio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mirko und Maurizio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mirko und Maurizio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mirko und Maurizio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
