Olivia

Unknown · Young · 2 years

Olivia is a very special cat—and we are looking for people who are just as special to adopt her. Her story is quite different from that of many other cats searching for a home. In the fall of 2024, Olivia arrived at LIDA, the large animal shelter in Olbia, along with six other cats (including Bello piccolo, Felicia, Freya, and Perla). Character-wise and visually, the cats could hardly have been more different. However, from the start, Olivia, the black beauty, made it clear how she felt about the new situation: she felt comfortable with her cat friends, but she showed clear boundaries when it came to people, reacting with defensiveness whenever someone got too close. When I met Olivia personally back then, it was still possible to establish friendly contact with her, as long as a respectful distance was maintained.

About Olivia

What life with Olivia looks like

Olivia is a large young adult cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olivia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olivia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olivia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olivia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olivia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olivia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olivia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
