Carlos

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Mixed-breed male Carlos - quiet paws seek patient people The handsome Carlos is new to the shelter and is having a hard time understanding the world. He came to our care with his two sisters. Unfortunately, we don't know where the three originally came from or what their previous life was like. Carlos is very anxious in the shelter and is completely overwhelmed by the new situation. Many things seem strange to him, and getting close to and trusting humans is difficult for him at the moment. We can't say why Carlos is so uncertain - we don't know his past. Carlos is a rescue dog with his own backpack. It's possible that he has barely or never experienced life in a home and many things of our human daily life. Accordingly, you shouldn't expect everything to "work" from the start. He will probably need to learn the dog alphabet and many everyday things. We wish for Carlos quiet, patient, and understanding people who give him time to arrive at his own pace. People who give him security and structure, lovingly accompany him, and appreciate even small progress. Carlos strongly orients himself to his fellow dogs. A confident first dog would certainly be a valuable support for him and could give him a lot of security in the beginning. Who wants to take this sensitive young dog under their wing and show him how beautiful a dog life can be? Then please contact his responsible mediator. A foster home would also be a wonderful stepping stone to a new life for Carlos.

About Carlos

What life with Carlos looks like

Carlos is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
