Caro

Husky · Female · Adult · 3 years

Caro – a Siberian Husky is urgently seeking a new life. Caro is a special dog who has been in our Spanish partner shelter since October. For her, this means a first small improvement. The dog comes from a case of animal hoarding, was rescued from terrible conditions and thus from a life without love or care. Instead of closeness and security, she experienced confinement, neglect, and the constant struggle for survival. Initially, she presented herself as a very shy and reserved dog, but the beauty is slowly beginning to settle in. In recent weeks, she has visibly stabilized, appears less fearful, and cautiously begins to trust. She attentively observes her surroundings, more consciously perceives her caregivers, and is increasingly daring to open up. She is still not a carefree dog, but you can see that she is beginning to find moments of relaxation and is becoming more interested in what's going on around her. Caro needs people who understand this process and give her time. People who don't expect anything, but accompany her. Because trust does not come to her overnight, but step by step. We wish Caro can finally begin a new chapter - one in which she experiences care, safety, and genuine attention. Caro is looking for people who will give her the chance to rediscover the world again. Empathy and patience are essential, because what she has experienced so far is far from a suitable life for a dog. As a Husky, Caro has everything that makes these special dogs unique: energy, intelligence, the urge for movement, and her independent character. Huskies are originally working dogs, not for beginners, nor candidates for a small apartment in the city. Ideally, Caro would thrive in a home on the countryside with a garden, where she can find space and peace to unfold. Whether as a foster dog or, ideally, permanently in a home - Caro needs people who are aware of their responsibility and enjoy working together with her on a real fresh start. Whoever gives Caro this chance will receive a loyal companion who, despite her difficult past, has not given up and is ready to finally start the dog life she deserves. About Caro

What life with Caro looks like

Caro is a adult husky dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
