Casimir

Norwegian Forest Cat · Male · Baby

Casimir Breed Norwegian Forest Cat – Mix Gender male (neutered) Born in 2020 In the animal shelter since 09.03.2026 Housing form Free roam Special FIV positive In his early days, Casimir was very stressed in the animal shelter and not particularly friendly. Now he shows much more ease. He often sits on his window ledge to either observe the goings-on in the office or to bask in the sun. He usually chats with people who approach him. He can now be stroked, and he even snuggles his head into the touch. He still needs to be accustomed to being touched on his body, and he accepts it only partially. We cannot report on his compatibility with other cats at this time. Due to his FIV diagnosis, he should ideally be housed alone or with other affected fellow animals. (As of 24.04.2026) If you are interested in our cats, please contact the animal shelter directly by phone (feel free to leave a message) or by email with your phone number, so that further details can be discussed and, if possible, a meeting time arranged. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Casimir

What life with Casimir looks like

Casimir is a puppy/kitten norwegian forest cat animal waiting at Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg in Homburg/Saar.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Casimir far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Casimir, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Casimir?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Casimir on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Casimir if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Casimir already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Casimir isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Casimir and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
