Cassiopea

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Generalities: Very tender calico kitten, with a tricolored coat, really special: the chest and belly are white, while on the back large black and orange patches alternate. Her green eyes, bright and expressive, complete a really fascinating appearance. She is vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Personality: Cassiopea is a shy and fearful cat. When she arrived she was very scared and is still working to overcome the difficulties she has experienced and get used to the new environment. She shares a large box with four other cats and the coexistence is not always easy: one of the companions tends to dominate the more gentle ones, which contributes to keeping her a bit anxious. She still needs to learn to trust people and often hides behind furniture, especially when strangers enter, from where she can observe everything happening feeling safe. However, with the staff and volunteers she regularly meets, she is making progress: day by day she opens up a little more, discovering that she can feel safe. When she is relaxed, she timidly accepts gentle and non-intrusive caresses. Her sensitivity has won over all of us. Ideal adoption: We are looking for her a very quiet and stable environment, with patient and aware people of her journey. In this phase of her socialization process she is more suitable for an adult household (single, couples or families without children). She will need time, daily attention, play and delicate interactions, always respecting her rhythms and her space. At the Monza animal shelter she is housed in a large box with other cats from the same background with whom she lives calmly. She could be entrusted alone, without other cats previously present in the home, or paired with another cat housed in the shelter with her. If there is future availability of a garden, it will be essential that she remains indoors initially to adapt safely and create stable references, both environmental and social. Available for adoption only in the province of Monza and Brianza and in the immediately adjacent municipalities. Background: She comes from a very complex and deprived situation, where she could not receive the attention and care she needed. Now she is ready to start a new life in a family that can offer her stability and affection.

About Cassiopea

What life with Cassiopea looks like

Cassiopea is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cassiopea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cassiopea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cassiopea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cassiopea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cassiopea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cassiopea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cassiopea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
