Caviar

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Female · Young · 2 years

03-10-26 Caviar has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very timid little girl who is currently extremely worried about people and when she feels unsure, will actively run away from you. She finds being approached quite frightening at the moment, although once she has been gently picked up and is safely in your arms, she is fine to handle, just very worried about it. Caviar really comes to life when she is around other dogs. She is playful, enjoys their company and takes a huge amount of confidence from having other dogs around her. When she has her doggy friends nearby, she is much more willing to come and investigate people, following their lead and watching what they do. Having a kind and confident resident dog in her new home who can take her under their wing will be essential for Caviar and will help her settle in much more quickly. We are told that she has previously guarded food and toys from other dogs, but she has been fine while she has been with us and we haven't seen any signs of this, but this is something that her adopters would need to be aware of. Caviar will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and who understand that she is going to need plenty of time love and patience as she builds her confidence. Her new family will need to allow her to settle at her own pace and not expect too much from her while everything is still so new. We would consider homing her with gentle, dog savvy teenagers 16+. Caviar has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be kind and patient as she settles in and learns all about home life and new skills like house training. She doesn't yet walk on a lead and harness and will need to first practice around the home and garden until she is feeling brave enough to venture further. With patience, understanding and the companionship of another confident dog, she will start to gradually discover her confidence and show the playful personality we are already beginning to see. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Caviar

What life with Caviar looks like

Caviar is a extra-large young adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caviar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caviar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caviar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caviar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caviar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caviar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caviar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
