Adopt Čeda

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Breed: Mother dog is German Short-haired Pointer (approx. 52 cm / 20 kg) compatibility with others: Compatible with other animals; Cats: No! Chip and pet identification are present. Vaccination status: Vaccinated against infectious diseases and rabies. Current location: Animal shelter Sape Smedereva near Belgrade (Serbia) Čeda has a friendly and balanced character. He is not a dominant dog, easily adapts to other unknown dogs, and is very social. However, he does not like cats – he chases them, so we do not recommend him for a household with cats. It is likely that there is some hunting dog blood in him, as he instinctively hunts birds, which makes him unsuitable for a home with birds or other feathered creatures. Towards humans, he is friendly, lovable, and clingy; he loves to cuddle and play. In the company of children, he is gentle, neither intrusive nor aggressive. He is active, loves walks, and takes every opportunity to play and run around. Additional information: Čeda was born to his mother in a village. As a puppy, he stood out for his special beauty and his white fur with black spots. Due to his unique appearance, he found a home quickly. However, as he grew older, his instincts kicked in, and at eight months old, he was chained because he hunted birds. No dog likes to be chained – so Čeda became a very sad chained dog. When we learned of his fate, we decided to free him from the chain and give him his smile back. The chain was replaced with a pension, and now we are searching for a good home and people who will love him and accept him as a family member. We were able to place the mother dog well in the meantime. Gets along with other dogs.

About Čeda

What life with Čeda looks like

Čeda is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. in Leichlingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Čeda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Čeda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Čeda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Čeda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Čeda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Čeda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Čeda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
