(nz)Celta

Female · Adult · 7 years

Celta comes originally from Toledo. When her owners moved away, they simply left her behind and Celta wandered through the surrounding fields until she was taken in by animal rescuers and then moved to the PROA animal shelter. At the beginning of her time at the shelter, Celta was a bit shy and cautious. She felt safe in the presence of people and sought out Toni's company. Now, Celta has settled in well and is more independent and cheerful. She loves to romp around with her cage mate California and enjoys going outside. Celta walks well on a leash and remains calm in the face of all sorts of environmental influences: passersby, lawn mower noise, trucks - Celta is not easily ruffled. When meeting other dogs, she is a bit tense at first, but in no way aggressive and shows herself to be compatible. During the cat test, Celta was excited and found the encounter with the meowing felines very thrilling. Since Celta enjoys learning and treats are very helpful, she responded well to Toni's calls and showed herself to be very obedient and eager to learn. Celta is probably familiar with living in an apartment. She likes people, is friendly, eager to learn, and is still young at seven years old. Whoever gives the pretty Dalmatian a home will get a great family dog who will bring a lot of love and joy to the new home. Born: 20.04.2019, Size: approx. 56 cm, Weight: approx. 22.6 kg, Compatible with other dogs: yes, Compatible with cats: possible for cat-experienced cat owners, Character: friendly, affectionate, obedient, active, at the shelter since July 2026

About (nz)Celta

What life with (nz)Celta looks like

(nz)Celta is an adult dog waiting at TS Fellwechsel e.V. in Varel /nur Vereinssitz, kein Tierheim vor Ort.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting (nz)Celta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about (nz)Celta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TS Fellwechsel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw (nz)Celta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt (nz)Celta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TS Fellwechsel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is (nz)Celta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if (nz)Celta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TS Fellwechsel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know (nz)Celta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
