Centauro

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Generalities: puppy with a soft coat, mostly white, with some red spots and a red tabby tail. A tender pink nose and two beautiful bright green eyes full of curiosity complete his appearance. He is vaccinated and microchipped. Not yet tested for FIV/FeLV. Character: Centauro is a very young kitten who still appears a bit wary of people, understandably marked by his difficult past. However, he loves playing, which represents his main way of approaching: through playful activities he is learning to trust the cat shelter staff and volunteers he sees most often. Over time, he is understanding that there is no reason to be afraid and is moving around with increasing confidence in the box he shares with other kittens and an adult cat from the same situation, who is already much more confident and a reference point for him. Centauro is not yet ready for physical contact and must take the next step, that of allowing himself to be touched and petted. Meanwhile, he is getting used to the presence and routines of the staff and volunteers, observing the interactions between the adult cat and people and drawing reassurance from the calmness this one shows. We are confident that, with the right time and in the appropriate setting, it won't be long before he takes this important step. He gets along well with the companions he shares the large cat shelter box with, which is equipped with furniture, toys, and stimuli. During playtime, the younger ones are very lively; Centauro, in particular, shows himself to be quite competitive and a bit jealous of his toys: when he catches the "prey" (like the feathers attached to the string of the wand), he doesn't let it go for any reason! Ideal adoption: For the shy Centauro, we are looking for a quiet and stable environment, with patient and aware people who can offer him the security he has lacked so far. For families with children, older kids are recommended, who are educated to respect the spaces and times of a cat. It can also be suitable as a first adoption, provided it is approached with awareness. Being very young, he needs quality time, numerous opportunities for socialization and interaction with another safe and balanced cat would be highly advisable. In the case of adoption in a house with a garden, it is essential that he remains exclusively indoors at first, to allow him to adapt safely and build appropriate reference points, both environmental and social. Centauro is available for adoption only in the province of Monza and Brianza and in the immediately adjacent municipalities. background: Centauro comes from a very complex and deprived situation, where he was unable to receive the care and attention he needed. Now he is ready to start a new life in a family capable of offering him stability, respect, and affection.

About Centauro

What life with Centauro looks like

Centauro is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Centauro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Centauro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Centauro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Centauro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Centauro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Centauro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Centauro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
