Charlie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

🐾 Charlie – a dog who got a second chance 🐾 Meet Charlie. He used to be named Stanley – we changed his name, just like his whole life has changed. Charlie is 4 years old. His past is a heartbreaking story. His previous owner gave him hell on earth. He was beaten, kicked, treated as a problem. The worst part is that he probably was going to be put down because he "caused trouble"... 💔 He was considered useless. For us – from the beginning, he was worth fighting for. When he came under our care, he showed no emotions. As if life had taught him that this was the only way to survive. Silence, fear, blank stare... Today we look at a completely different dog ✨ Charlie is joyful, runs around, enjoys every moment, and is rediscovering the world. He loves balls, play, and especially people. He becomes very attached – once he trusts, he is fully devoted to his caregiver. He seeks closeness, contact, love, which he didn't know before 🤍 Charlie is proof that even a dog who lost everything can learn joy and trust again. He got a second chance. Now he needs a person who will show him that he will never be "a problem" again.

Jakby życie nauczyło go, że to jedyny sposób, by przetrwać. Cisza, strach, pusty wzrok… Dziś patrzymy na zupełnie innego psa ✨Charlie jest radosny, biega, cieszy się każdą chwilą, odkrywa świat na nowo. Kocha piłki, zabawę i przede wszystkim człowieka.

About Charlie

What life with Charlie looks like

Charlie is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charlie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
