He has settled in well and is showing total joy and friendliness. Our Boxerhof team is very happy to continue working with him daily and regularly. We would like to extend a big thank you to the "Weserköters" team for the great progress Charly has made, which we can now build upon. We have also received a custom-fitted muzzle (the costs were kindly donated), which allows us to continue our training with Charly both inside and outside the Boxerhof. Our goal is to prepare Charly as best as possible for the behavioral assessment. While we cannot currently estimate when the right time for the behavior evaluation will be, we can say that Charly has developed very positively. The male dog is still so young, lovable, and a beautiful representative of his breed, deserving a chance. It would be wonderful if Charly, despite his classification as a "dangerous dog" and the associated requirements, could find a new home where his new people could continue his training together. Even though our efforts have been intensive, the chances for Charly to find a home are much better. Of course, we would be happy to assist with fulfilling the requirements and discuss this in detail. You can help us by sponsoring Charly or making a donation in his favor. 07.04.2024 29.04.2025 25.06.2025 23.08.2025 23.10.23 The first time the beautiful male dog came to us in February 2023 as a surrender dog, it was because it no longer worked well with the existing female dog in the home. Here, he showed himself as a friendly, open male dog who, of course, still needed some training and guidance due to his age. Quickly, we found a family willing to take on this challenge.

About Charly

What life with Charly looks like

Charly is a large young adult dog waiting at Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland in Hiddenhausen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Charly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
