CHEF

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Hi, I'm Chef. I'm an energetic, sweet and affectionate dog who loves going for walks, playing and being busy outside. I'm obedient, but when I have my focus on something, I can really get absorbed in it. Then you do need to come from good stock to get my attention back. I don't immediately wind myself around the legs of new people. I like to first see how things stand and get to know someone at my own pace. Once I trust you, though, I'm an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog who loves to seek out contact. I'm sometimes watchful and have a hunting instinct, although that isn't excessively strong. My current family has done a lot for me and tried various things to guide me as well as possible. Still, it turns out that the busy and dynamic family situation isn't the right place for me in the end. Lots of stimuli, unexpected movements and people who keep coming and going can become too much for me, especially when all the stimuli build up over the course of the day

About CHEF

What life with CHEF looks like

CHEF is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa in —.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting CHEF, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CHEF?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CHEF on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CHEF if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is CHEF already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CHEF isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know CHEF and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
