Chester (m)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Chester is finally looking for his forever home. 🐾❤️ Chester is about 3 years old, approximately 50 cm tall and waiting in the public shelter of the Romanian city Botoșani for his chance. Over 800 dogs live there in close quarters - a place where there is hardly any peace, affection or hope. Fortunately, three tireless volunteers care for the dogs daily and ensure that at least the bare necessities are met. Our German animal welfare colleagues also visit the shelter regularly. They always meet very special dogs like Chester. We don't know how Chester ended up in the shelter. He was probably caught by dog catchers after residents complained about stray dogs. Maybe he was just abandoned. His past remains his secret. What we do know: Chester has kept his joie de vivre. 🌞 Despite the bleak shelter routine, he greets every person friendly and full of hope. He enjoys every caress, would love to be right in the middle instead of just along for the ride and would surely play enthusiastically if someone could take the time for it. He gets on well with the other dogs in his kennel - even when new dogs come along, Chester remains friendly and social. 🐶 We don't know whether Chester had a home before. Much of that is probably still unknown to him and he must learn about life in a family first. His great need for human contact suggests that he knows and loves the contact with us. Now all he needs is one thing: his own home. 🏡 People who show him patiently how beautiful dog life can be, and who never leave him behind again. 🍀 Who will give Chester the life he so desperately deserves? If you are interested in adopting or if you want to support Chester, please contact us. Sharing this post can also greatly increase his chance of finding a home. 🙏 Please share Chester - so that his hope finally becomes reality. ❤️ ℹ️ Chester is neutered, multiple vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and of course has an EU passport. When he leaves, he will already have been treated for fleas.

——————————————— 📍

About Chester (m)

What life with Chester (m) looks like

Chester (m) is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chester (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chester (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chester (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chester (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chester (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chester (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chester (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
