Adopt Chico

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Chico (born November 2025) was given up at the end of January 2026 to our foster home in Veitsbronn (LK Fürth). The lively tomcat is a true champion of cuddling and seeks his equal. For Chico, we wish for a new home where an approximately same-aged fellow animal lives – because this lively tiger definitely needs a partner who can meet him on equal terms. Playing all day, going on adventures with a feline friend, and snuggling in the arms of his human at night – that's Chico's idea of a perfect life. Actually, it shouldn't be too hard to achieve, right?

Chico (geb.

About Chico

What life with Chico looks like

Chico is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierhilfe Weidenberg und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Weidenberg und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Weidenberg und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Weidenberg und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
