Chico

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Chico is an adorable small 10 yr old Jack Russell Terrier cross. He was adopted from Safe Rescue 4 years ago, but was returned to them recently due to unforeseen circumstances. He is being cared for in a foster home in Watton in Norfolk. Chico is looking for an adult only home where he is the only dog. Although Safe Rescue were told that Chico could be nervous around new people, he quickly proved otherwise by settling in with his foster carers straight away. Before long, he was happily hopping onto their laps, enjoying plenty of cuddles and attention. Despite being a typical terrier (if you know, you know !) Chico is a friendly boy – playful and energetic for his age. He loves playing with his toys and having fun, and then settling down for a well deserved nap. Chico is currently a little reactive with other dogs in his foster home, but it is thought to be down to his lack of socialisation and his foster carers are working with him on this. He was used to being the only dog in his last home and therefore felt that that is where he would be best suited. He is both lead and house trained, and is so looking forward to finding his perfect home. Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Chico's home page here. ———————————————— If you can give loving Chico the forever home he deserves, please contact Safe Rescue below: Tel/Message: or between 9am-5pm Mon-Fri and 9am-4pm Sat Email: Please mention that you saw Chico on Oldies Club website.

About Chico

What life with Chico looks like

Chico is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
