Chips

German Shepherd · Female · Young · 1 year

Meet Chips, our beautiful 1-year-old Belgian Malinois lady, who arrived in our care as a stray. Chips is a dream dog for shepherd enthusiasts, combining the intelligence, athleticism, and drive the Belgian Malinois is known for with an exceptionally sweet and social nature. She truly offers the best of both worlds: an adventurous partner by day and a cuddly companion by night. Built to move and eager to bond with her people, Chips is looking for an active home with the time and commitment to provide the exercise, engagement, and enrichment this intelligent, energetic breed needs. Since arriving at Battersea, Chips has shown herself to be confident, friendly, and affectionate with everyone she meets. She also has some lovely social skills with other dogs, happily pottering alongside calmer companions and has had playful interactions with more energetic friends, though she does preference more relaxed walking buddies. Her favourite activities include long walks, splashing in pools, playing fetch and tug-of-war, and learning new tricks. While she loves to keep her body and mind active, she also has a soft side and will likely be more than happy to curl up for cuddles at the end of a fun day. Chips would thrive in a home with active owners who have a good understanding of working breeds, share her love of training and play, and are keen to take her on plenty of adventures. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Chips, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. tion.

About Chips

What life with Chips looks like

Chips is a large young adult german shepherd dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chips, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chips?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chips on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chips if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chips already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chips isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chips and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
