Adopt Chojrak

Male · Young · 2 years

"Chojrak - a shy dog" - this could be the story of a small, fluffy mixed breed dog who was found in a cemetery and brought to the animal shelter. Later he ended up in the Asy group, where he got this unusual name. We are still getting to know Chojrak, but after the first, joint walks we can see that he is a sensitive puppy who has a lot of fears. At first, he wasn't convinced of our company, he hid in the hut and was afraid to go out of his crate. Fortunately, this changed quickly :) Today, Chojrak happily wags his twisted tail at the sight of a volunteer or caregiver. Our ward has learned to enjoy human touch and timidly asks for it. Although he still doesn't feel completely comfortable when touched, for example, around the tail during grooming. Chojrak probably never had a real home, where he went for walks and was spoiled by his family. Despite this, walking on a leash is not a problem for him, he can calmly walk and stay close to the person. And whenever there's a chance for a short break on the grass, he unhesitatingly uses it for cuddles and scratching behind the ear. Chojrak is a very young dog, in which there is a great curiosity about the world and openness. The little one is constantly building his confidence, which would certainly be helped by the presence of a beloved person. Chojrak seems to be positively oriented towards other members of his species. On walks, he shows interest in other dogs, and they also react positively to him. Sometimes the energetic behavior of other dogs overwhelms him. However, we expect that proper socialization may bring very nice results :) It will take some effort to gain Chojrak's full trust, but we see great potential in this little dog, which should not be wasted in the animal shelter. We guarantee that our cute ward will quickly find a place in everyone's heart. Maybe it will be by your side that he discovers the big world, and after shared adventures, share the sofa in the comfort of a home?

Czasami energiczne zachowania innych psów go onieśmielają. Justyna 699 898 219 Magdalena 668 412 043

About Chojrak

What life with Chojrak looks like

Chojrak is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patience and socialization due to fearful nature and lack of previous home experience

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chojrak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chojrak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chojrak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chojrak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chojrak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chojrak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chojrak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
