Impuls

Male · Young · 1 year

Impuls is about 6 years old and is one of those dogs that don't immediately jump into people's arms. He is calm, reserved and very gentle - he needs time to understand that touch does not mean fear, and a leash can lead to something good, not bad. We don't know what he has been through, but his eyes say everything - a lot of caution, but also a spark of hope that somewhere out there, someone special is waiting for him. Impuls tolerates other dogs, so in a home with another calm four-legged friend he might feel more secure. Each day he is becoming bolder when looking at people, as if he wants to say: "I want to trust, just show me that I can." We are looking for a patient, calm home for him, which will not expect too much from him at first - someone who will let him be himself, give him time and space.

PL·Show original

About Impuls

What life with Impuls looks like

Impuls is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Impuls, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Impuls?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Impuls on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Impuls if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Impuls already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Impuls isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Starogardzie Gdańskim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Impuls and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
