Adopt Christoph

Male · Young · 2 years

Rabbit Born: End of 2024, at the animal shelter since: 22.01.2025, male, neutered Christoph came to Quellenhof as a found animal from Pilsting, and unfortunately, no one has missed him so far. He is vaccinated against Myxomatosis and RHD, neutered, and also successfully treated for coccidia and yeast fungi. The lively hopper is very curious and likes to watch people when his enclosure is being cleaned, checking to make sure everything is done correctly. Currently, Christoph lives with Stupsi in the small animal house with access to an outdoor enclosure. He gets along very well with Stupsi. Christoph prefers female companions. He is dominant, the boss of both, and always defends this position. Christoph needs a lot of space to play, which he loves to do. Additionally, he would like many burrowing and hiding spots. Although he is curious, future owners should be aware that he is not a cuddly pet. About Christoph

What life with Christoph looks like

Christoph is a young adult rabbit waiting at Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn in Dingolfing.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Christoph, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Christoph?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Christoph on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Christoph if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Christoph already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Christoph isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Christoph and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
