** Please note the ‘Contact for Availability’ function is currently not working. Please email the Rescue direct () if you are enquiring about an animal and include the animal’s name ** Christopher is a beautiful boy who was sadly abandoned at our gates a few weeks ago. There was not even a note in the carrier, so we have no idea what his previous life was like or what he may have been through. Christopher arrived unneutered and with a few tell-tale scratches, suggesting he may have been involved in fights, likely as a result of being an entire male. He has since been neutered and his scratches have healed. Understandably, he has been a little confused and unsure of his surroundings. Despite everything, Christopher is a very sweet and gentle boy. He is shy and has needed some time to feel safe, but he is slowly coming out of his shell and beginning to gain confidence. We are now hoping to find him a loving home of his own where he can continue to blossom at his own pace. Christopher could live with older, sensible children who will give him the time and space he needs. With careful introductions and plenty of patience, we feel he may also be able to live with another neutered, friendly cat or a dog. More than anything, Christopher needs a calm, loving home where he can finally feel safe and secure. He has had an uncertain start, but we are sure there is a lovely little character waiting to emerge once he knows he is home. About Christopher

What life with Christopher looks like

Christopher is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Christopher, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Christopher?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Christopher on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Christopher if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Christopher already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Christopher isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Christopher and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
