Adopt Chubby

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Hi, I am Chubby. I was found on the streets in Darabani, Romania near the Ukraine border… skin and bones, frozen and wet, barely holding on. Life had been very hard on me, but I did not give up. Kind volunteer found me and brought me to safety at The Dog Rose Shelter, where I could finally feel warmth, care and kindness. I am a 1-year-old boy, medium in size, with the softest heart you can imagine. Even though I knew hunger, I never fight over food—instead, I share it. My bed too. With small dogs, puppies, cats… anyone. I am incredibly gentle, calm and loving. Sometimes I bark when I feel scared, but I am not dangerous at all. I just need a little reassurance. The moment you speak to me, my tail starts wagging, because all I really want is kindness. My confidence is 9/10, and my energy is beautifully balanced, playful when it is time, calm when it matters. I am neutered, vaccinated and ready to travel anytime. I have known the worst… now I am ready to discover what love truly feels like.

About Chubby

What life with Chubby looks like

Chubby is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Dog Rose) in Dogrose.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chubby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chubby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Dog Rose) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chubby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chubby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Dog Rose) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chubby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chubby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Dog Rose) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chubby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
