Adopt Ciara

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Ciara - pretty, smart, and very agile → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: female → Born: 03/2024 → Size / Weight: 47 cm / 17 kg → Neutered: yes → Vaccinated: yes → Identification: Chip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: N/A → Sponsorships possible: yes Description Ciara lived in a city district where dogs were intentionally set on fire. To spare her this fate, Bosnian animal welfare workers rescued her. Ciara is very fond of people and proves to be a very loving female dog in their company. What she misses most in the kennel besides affection is exercise. The agile young fur nose would love to dash across meadows and let off steam to her heart's content. Understandably, the former street dog still has a long learning process ahead if someone finally falls in love with her beautifully marked face and takes her in. She will not only be an alert and tireless companion to her future family but also facilitate the training of basic dog commands with her evident intelligence. Ciara can already walk on a leash, but the fine-tuning of leash manners still needs some work. The small to medium-sized Ciara gets along excellently with other four-legged friends. She currently lives completely stress-free with several fellow animals in the kennel. We can imagine Ciara in any family constellation, even with children.

About Ciara

What life with Ciara looks like

Ciara is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ciara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ciara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ciara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ciara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ciara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ciara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ciara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
