Citlaly

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Citlaly (born 07/2017) is a beautiful female dog with a shoulder height of about 55 cm. Her coat is especially striking: in winter it appears salt-and-pepper grey, while in summer it looks deep black. But Citlaly is special not only in appearance; her personality makes her a truly remarkable dog. When we visited in August 2026, Citlaly greeted us with great joy. She jumped up and down with excitement, showing just how positively she has developed: she approached people openly, in a friendly and welcoming way. Little remained of the reserved dog who used to prefer to watch visitors from a safe distance. In that moment, Citlaly showed herself to be a cheerful, trusting and lovable dog – with a wonderful liquorice-black nose and a real treasure. With other dogs, Citlaly is peaceful and sociable. For a long time she lived harmoniously with two male dogs, who were fortunately allowed to leave this place. Citlaly was left alone in the kennel. This loneliness is hard for her, because she relied heavily on the other dogs and benefited from their company. A friendly, confident first dog in her new home would therefore certainly help her and could make settling in considerably easier. However, this is not a requirement. The fact that she now approaches people so openly is a lovely development. During visits in early autumn 2025, a different picture emerged: Citlaly watched the volunteers attentively, came curiously out of her hut, but initially kept her distance. She accepted treats and allowed herself to be photographed up close, though at times she partly fell into a freeze mode. She needed time to build trust and to judge closeness. All the more wonderful, then, to see how much more secure and approachable she has become. She also permits gentle stroking and light patting of her muzzle. For Citlaly, we wish that she is finally seen: people who give her the chance to continue the positive development she has already shown at the shelter. She needs a calm and stable environment, people with patience and empathy, and the opportunity to settle in at her own pace. A friendly canine companion would be a valuable support but, as mentioned, is not a must. Citlaly has been waiting for a long time. She has shown that she can be open and friendly toward people – now she only lacks the one person who truly sees her and gives her a ticket to a new life. She should not have to wait alone in the kennel any longer. Citlaly is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, and will be placed with a protection contract following a positive preliminary check. Note regarding our protégés: our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as accurate a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment – with new people, new routines and new impressions – may show a different side of itself. This is entirely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides of themselves that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are no guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

Citlaly (geb. Citlaly wartet nun schon so lange.

About Citlaly

What life with Citlaly looks like

Citlaly is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Citlaly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Citlaly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Citlaly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Citlaly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Citlaly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Citlaly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Citlaly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
