adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Claas was given up by the son of its original owner. The father now lives in a care home, and the son cannot take care of the dog anymore as he does not live in the country. So now, Claas is waiting for people who can give him a new chance. At the moment, Claas is still very reserved. He is not being touched at the moment and needs people who respect his insecurity and give him time to settle in without pressure. With patience and calmness, he can hopefully learn that proximity does not mean anything threatening. So far, Claas has not been tested with other dogs or cats. It is very likely that Claas has parts of a herding dog. Therefore, we would like to find him a more rural home, ideally with a securely fenced property, as well as people with experience with such dogs or willing to be aware of their special characteristics. Herding dogs are often independent, vigilant, very loyal, and build bonds not superficially. For beginners, they are usually not suitable. For Claas, we are looking for loving, patient, and responsible people who can give him time, space, and understanding. People who do not pressure him but help him to gain trust at his own pace. He will be vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before he travels and will then bring his EU Companion Animal Passport. Do you want to give Claas the time he needs and show him that trust can grow? A big thank you to Gritt! You not only gave Claas an identity but also the chance at a new life! As of: 28.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Claas

What life with Claas looks like

Claas is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Claas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Claas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Claas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Claas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Claas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Claas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Claas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
