Clarisa

Mixed Breed · Female

Clarisa comes from Luník IX, part Mašlíčkovo, Košice. When Clarisa came to us, she had a rope around her neck. She was extremely shy, it was challenging for both her and us. Out of fear, she bit in all directions, and was extremely scared by any touch. Gradually we found our common way and it's much better now. As we wrote in the beginning, Clarisa came to us shy and unsocialized - not used to human touch and love. Clarisa is still initially shy and distrustful of new people, needs a more sensitive approach and time to get used to everything new, then she will be happy and content. It's a very gentle and kind female dog who enjoys what she didn't know before. Once she gets to know you, she is an amazing female dog, who enjoys being petted and being close to her person. Clarisa really likes toys, petting and scratching, warming up in the sun in a comfortable bed. She is active just enough and adapts. She will love trips into nature, playing around with her family, but also relaxing nicely. She gets along well with dogs and with female dogs depending on sympathy, but once she likes a dog, she loves to play and chase it all day. It would definitely be a big plus if Clarisa had a balanced dog companion in the house. Handling is trouble-free - once she knows the person. She has good hygiene habits, doesn't destroy things and behaves politely inside.

SK·Show original

Určite by bolo veľké plus ak by v domove mala Clarisa vyrovnaného psieho kamaráta. Manipulácia je bezproblémová – ak už človeka pozná. Hygienické návyky má, veci neničí a vo vnútri sa správa slušne.

About Clarisa

What life with Clarisa looks like

Clarisa is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at ÚVP Košice in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clarisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clarisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ÚVP Košice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clarisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clarisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ÚVP Košice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clarisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clarisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ÚVP Košice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clarisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
