Clementine

German Shepherd · Female · Senior · 11 years

Clementine was primarily kept in the bathroom after being purchased two months earlier via an internet portal. The landlord was able to prevent the owners' plan to release her somewhere in Hungary, and so (Clemen)Tine came to us. Tine was initially an incredibly excitable female dog who found it hard to settle down. Even today, it still takes her a while to focus, she pulls heavily on the leash, and she is very excited. However, on the dog park, she now eagerly searches for treats and trails (Personensuche) like a pro. She is friendly with people, and she gets along well with selected, intact male dogs at the animal shelter. Although she could stay alone in her previous home, she shouldn’t have to do so in the near future. Tine needs patient people who can accept her and be happy with the quiet moments when she lies in her dog crate and lets someone scratch her belly. Clementine is familiar with living with children, travels well in the car, and behaves very nicely at the vet. For Tine, we are looking for dog-experienced people who have more patience than she does and who would like to work with her.

About Clementine

What life with Clementine looks like

Clementine is a medium-sized senior german shepherd dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Reutlingen in Reutlingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clementine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clementine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Reutlingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clementine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clementine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Reutlingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clementine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clementine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Reutlingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clementine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
