Bill is the more confident brother, he has a curious nature and will come out to greet familiar faces in our cattery unit. Ben is a bit more timid, he prefers to take his time to get to know you, but we are confident that once he settles in a home, his affectionate side will start to show. Once settled into their environment, these boys are friendly and playful, often found curled up together watching the world go by. They do both enjoy getting gentle head rubs, however they are not massive fans of being lifted and held and prefer to take it slow.Bill and Ben are searching for a new home where they can continue to grow in confidence together. They will need understanding, patient owners who will allow them their own time to settle and adjust into their new home. They could live with children over the age of 10 years who are used to cats and have a sensible approach. It is unknown how they would react to other pets in the home. About Bill & Ben

What life with Bill & Ben looks like

Bill & Ben is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ulster SPCA in Northern Ireland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bill & Ben, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bill & Ben?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ulster SPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bill & Ben on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bill & Ben if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ulster SPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bill & Ben already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bill & Ben isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ulster SPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bill & Ben and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
